Fri, Jul 1st 2016 01:55 pm

Rochester, NY ~ Gary Mervis, founder of Cancer Mission 2020 and Camp Good Days and Special Times attended the Cancer Moonshot Summit, on June 29, 2016, hosted at the University of Rochester's Wilmot Cancer Institute.

The summit held by Vice President Joe Biden, and was being hosted simultaneously at various locations around the country.

Mervis was particularly excited that Vice President Biden shared his conviction that the results from publicly funded cancer research need to be shared.

"A lot of times the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing and I just think we need to give it the national attention it deserves."

One of the items discussed at the summit is the need for increased federal funding, which over the years has declined.

Gary Mervis hopes that initiatives like Cancer Mission 2020 and the Cancer Moonshot Summit will lead to research that at the least will make cancer a manageable rather than a terminal disease.
